Sabu JR Shake has dedicated more than five decades to Monterey County’s hospitality industry and community life, helping shape some of the region’s most recognized restaurants, including Old Fisherman’s Grotto and The Fish Hopper on Cannery Row and in Kona, Hawaii. His leadership in restaurant operations, guest service, and job creation has made a lasting impact on the local economy and waterfront dining scene.

Beyond his business role, Sabu has been consistently involved in charitable efforts and community partnerships, earning recognition as the 2024 Hospitality Professional of the Year by the Monterey County Hospitality Association. His long-standing commitment to hospitality, philanthropy, and the Monterey Bay community has earned Sabu JR Shake the 2025 Monterey Bay Stars Award for Man of the Year.
